Supporting Place of Promise Residents, Lowell, MA
Support Place of Promise residents by giving of your time and friendship. Provide a Sunday evening meal, participate in a Wednesday Bible Study or become a mentor—all are options. For more information, contact Sandy Siciliano.
Bringing Christmas to Families of Prisoners – Project Angel Tree
NCC has been involved for years in Project Angel Tree, a program of Prison Fellowship. In this program, churches buy presents for the children of prisoners which are chosen and given from the incarcerated parent. Each year we expect to buy presents for 45 to 50 children. Each child receives three gifts: one to wear, something to play with, and the other gift is either a toy or clothing.
Hosting Foreign Students – Humphrey Scholars, Boston University
A long-time tradition at NCC, hosting a Humphrey Scholar is a commitment to befriend a foreign student and his or her family while they are participating in the Humphrey Fellowship program at BU. Participants invite their fellow into their homes and lives, to do something together at least once each semester. If you’re home for Thanksgiving, you are encouraged to include your fellow in your Thanksgiving dinner. This is a great family opportunity! For more information, contact Doris Kellom.
Opportunities are also available to serve a meal for the Boston Rescue Mission. If you are interested in serving, please contact SocialAction [at] newtoncovenant.org.
