MAKE AN IMPACT
FIND YOUR FIT IN FOSTER CARE THROUGH OUR
Healing Homes Ministry
Join us in supporting the foster families in our congregation!
WHAT WE NEED
Individuals and families to step into 1 of 4 specific roles to create a SupportONE wrap around team for foster families & other families with needs at NCC! The roles to support these families include:
LEAD - 1 per family | Administrative and/or shepherding gifts
HELPERS - 2 per family | Provide a meal, laundry support, do the lawn, 'doers'
CAREGIVERS - 2 or 3 per family | Babysitting, child transportation, respite, mentoring
ENCOURAGERS -1 per family | Ensure family feels 'seen' & loved in various creative ways
Can you see yourself stepping into one of these roles for a family?
If so, or even if you are unsure but are open to it, please be in touch with Hope & Jay Straughan to discuss as we are actively building these teams for our NCC families.
Not all are called to foster children, but everyone can do something to care for those who are!
What is God calling you to do?
Email us at . Jonathan Reid, Executive Director of Fostering Hope led a session on this for NCC recently. If you missed it, email Jessica to access a video of the presentation!
Helping DCF Families
During the Pandemic
As a part of the Fostering Hope Network of churches, NCC has been asked to join a growing number of church communities in eastern Massachusetts who are working toward standing in the gap for DCF-served families and youth (foster, kinship, intact families and youth in congregate care settings) who are experiencing job loss and crisis in this time. This is an extension of the support we have been providing for the family of four (mom and 3 teen children), and other DCF-involved families.
What’s needed to help DCF families:
Prayer: Email email@example.com to receive daily prayer prompting emails
Shopping: Purchase needed items (listed below) using gift cards or using your money and get reimbursed
Running: Delivering items from place to place
Financial support: Donate to cover the costs of needed items
Other: Flexible willingness to help, depending on the need!
If you are willing to be part of this growing effort please fill out this form. You will be contacted as needs arise for specific ways to help.
Give to DCF Family Support Fund
If you want to do something right away, you can give to our 'DCF Family Support' fund through our church’s online giving page or you can send a check to the church office, made out to NCC with 'DCF Family Support' clearly written in the memo section [NCC, 959 Watertown St, W. Newton, MA 02465]. Your donation will allow us to be prepared to respond to needs as they arise, as we have been doing.
Donate Items to Families
Purchase and deliver any of these supplies listed below to the front porch of the Straughan home - 24 Adams St., Newton, MA 02460. All will be given to foster and adoptive families in need.
Diapers, all sizes
Grocery gift cards - any denomination, any local store will help immensely (especially Stop & Shop, Shaw's, Trader Joe's, or Market Basket)
