Statement regarding reopening
After reviewing Governor Baker’s guidance regarding the reopening of houses of worship, the Leadership Team and the Staff have concluded that we should not reopen at this time. For more information, please watch the video below from Pastor Garrett. If you have questions or feedback about this decision, please email Pastor Garrett or any member of the Leadership Team.

Dear Church Family,
We received word on Wednesday that Newton Public Schools are not allowing any outside groups to use their facilities until further notice. This means we will not be meeting at Bigelow Middle School for the time being.
Our leadership team has made the decision that we should suspend meeting for the next couple of Sundays. Most churches have made this decision and we have decided to follow their lead.
Scripture does encourage us not to “give up meeting together”. So while we may not see each other face to face, we so very much want to maintain our community connection. We are developing alternative meeting formats, including online and still meeting as community groups. We will be emailing a Sunday morning service for you to participate in at home.
Current protocol is asking for groups over 25 not to meet. Community Groups who choose to still meet should of course follow good protocol with regard to contact and cleanliness. We are postponing our upcoming leadership retreat and congregational meeting.
Our decision is not based on fear for our own private safety, which Christians in particular need to guard against at this moment, as much as it may be a temptation. But rather this is an active decision to participate in our local, national, and even international efforts to stem the rapid spread of the disease. Our prayer is that our faith will be made manifest in this very unique situation and that the hope God gives to his people will be a witness to the world.
For the glory of our King,
The Newton Covenant Church Leadership Team
